I was out of town one Sunday in the spring of 2023. We had been attending WCC for about 6 months after moving. My son-in-law told me that Samer mentioned that volunteers were needed. I thought - Woo hoo! I love working with high schoolers and young single adults.
I went to the link, and checked UpStreet - thought better of it - but the system would not let me go back to no choices. I could change the choice, but something had to be checked. If someone contacted me, I figured I would just explain that I didn’t work with children - I preferred working with older teens or those in their 20’s.
I don’t remember my conversation with Kelly, but the next thing I knew, I was attending an info / training session. I began subbing as a small group leader that summer.
Then God showed off. You asked me to be a coach - not that I had a clue as to what that meant. 😂
Staff and friends from our previous church are shocked when they find out I am working in 2nd grade. But I explain that the small group leaders minister to the kids. I get to minister to the small group leaders - teenagers and adults.
